In second grade, every week we had an assignment to write a sentence for each of our spelling words. One week, I stopped working on my assignment for a while, then couldn't find the paper when I came back to it. So  I started over.

When the time came to turn in our homework, I pulled a paper with spelling sentences out of my folder and handed it in. But I handed in the wrong paper - the one I had lost earlier. And I got a demerit for not completing my homework. If we got a certain number of demerits, we would have to go to detention or Saturday School, and I was terrified that I would get a couple more demerits and have to go. But we moved away before I got any more demerits.
