My sixth-grade class made a quilt for a project. Each student designed a square about a book he or she had read, including title, author, and a picture. There weren't quite enough students, so I created a second square with another student in the class. I think her name was Melody. She was a foster child and new to the school. We did our square on a book called Twister.
Melody took charge, and she drew the picture for the square. I wasn't happy about it, partly because I thought I could draw a more realistic tornado. So I protested by drawing a lot of other tornadoes on my own paper, which I let the other kids in the class see. They thought my tornadoes were better, too.
